Laundry dilemma but sunny days ahead.
I broke through the psychologically important latitude of 40 degrees south on Monday at 2345. A huge low pressure system wreaking havoc at Cape Horn has just caught me, but I should break clear in the next day or two and be in downwind conditions. I have been beating to windward for the last week and while making decent speeds and covering 100 plus miles each day, its been an uncomfortable wet ride. I now have no dry clothes left and my sleeping bag finally capitulated when a massive wave broke over the boat last night with water finding its way in through the windows and soaked the bottom half. The warmer weather is cheering me up and the prospect of sustained heat as I approach 35 degrees south latitude makes the damp bearable. Finally, a huge thank you to the many people who sent me messages of support and congratulations on successfully rounding Cape Horn – I truly appreciate the support.
